1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use GEDBuddy, we may collect account information such as your name, email address and profile image; learning information such as completed lessons, quiz and practice activity, saved questions, progress, scores, streaks and study history; and basic technical information needed to provide and secure the service.

You can use some free learning content without creating an account. If you create an account, information associated with your studies can be saved so it is available across supported devices.

2. How we use information

We use information to provide GEDBuddy, authenticate users, save and synchronize study progress, personalize learning features, operate memberships, provide customer support, prevent abuse, maintain security and improve the reliability of the service.

We do not use your Google account information for advertising, and we do not sell personal information to advertisers.

3. Sign-in and authentication

GEDBuddy may allow you to sign in using Google or other supported authentication methods. When you choose Google sign-in, we receive only the account information made available through the permissions you approve, such as your name, email address and profile image. We use that information to create or access your GEDBuddy account and to keep your progress associated with the correct user.

4. Payments

Paid memberships are processed by our payment provider. GEDBuddy does not need to store your full payment-card number. The payment provider may process billing details, transaction information and other information required to complete payments, manage subscriptions, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.

5. How information is shared

We may share information with service providers only as needed to operate GEDBuddy, such as authentication, hosting, database and payment providers. These providers process information to perform services on our behalf or under their own applicable terms and privacy policies.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the security or rights of users and the service, or in connection with a legitimate business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

6. Data retention

We retain account and learning information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide GEDBuddy, maintain your account, meet legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes and protect the service. Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and why it is needed.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect personal information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their account credentials and use a secure device and connection.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of or other controls over personal information associated with your account. You may also sign out of GEDBuddy or choose not to create an account when using content that is available without one.

9. Children's privacy

GEDBuddy is an education service intended for people preparing for the GED. If local law requires parental or guardian permission for a user to provide personal information or use a paid online service, that permission should be obtained before creating an account or purchasing a membership.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our services or legal obligations change. When we make a material update, we will revise the “Last updated” date shown at the top of this page and provide any additional notice required by applicable law.
